A few lessons I’ve learned…

The following is as good as it gets for me. If you get this accomplished, then you’re doing well in life and in my book. These are my own thoughts, and no one else’s (that I know of). It’s what I believe in; they are lessons I’ve learned, things I’ve heard and, yes, I’m sure that they are things you’ve heard too. You know, they say that “size matters.” It really does, and here are some examples.

Your heart. I saw something recently that hit close to home for me. “If you want to be happy for an hour, go watch TV. If you want to be happy for a day, go to an amusement park.  But if you want to be happy for a lifetime, then go out and help others.” Do that for yourself, and you’re doing well, if you ask me. Never underestimate kindness. It can and will change the world.

Your confidence.  If you’re confident in what you do and, more importantly, who you are, at least then you will know that you’re doing something right, even if it doesn’t feel that way.

Your ego.  Now, don’t let that go straight to your head.   If you make a mistake, take credit for it.  If you do something right, take credit for that too!  If you’re wrong about something, admit it.  If you’re right about something, believe in it with all of your heart.  If you want to do something, do it; don’t let anyone stop you.  Prove yourself to…yourself!  That boosts both your confidence and your ego.  And who doesn’t need a boost in those every so often?

Think about something before you say it.  Consider the ones who are around you.  If you think that what you’ll say might offend those around you, then here’s a thought: Don’t say it.  It’s better to keep quiet than to say something that you’ll later regret.  I know this is true because I’ve done it too often myself.  I know, most of the time, things sound different in your head than they do when they come out of your mouth.  But for your own safety (maybe even your sanity) take this into consideration.

Pay attention to what you’re doing.  Pay attention to your surroundings.  Be grateful for what you have.  You may wish for a lot of things, but you may not have every single thing that you want.  That’s because you have to work for what you want.

Show some class every once in a while.  That can move mountains, even if you don’t think it will.  Celebrate life in general.  Be thankful that you are where you are.  Be nice to someone who is being mean or cruel.  Being nice has a weird and wonderful way of turning the negative into a positive.  Be nice because you can, and because you should, even if you don’t want to.

Be serious, but not all of the time.  Be good, or be bad, it doesn’t matter either way; just be true to who you want to be.  Be true, because you’re the one you have to live with. Decisions don’t always have to be good ones; they just have to be made.  Be brave enough to start something; but know when to be brave enough to just walk away.

If you fall down, get back up.  Don’t ever stop; but if you start to feel overwhelmed, by all means, take a breather.  Let it out…ALL of it.  It doesn’t do you any good to hold something in for a long time.

Take some time to play, smile and enjoy what you’ve got.  Indulge.

If for some reason someone tells you that you can’t do something, show that person that you can…and do it with passion!  Do something that you wouldn’t normally do.  Do something that is totally out of character for you.

Do not live your life in the past.  Then again, don’t forget what has happened in the past.  Remember it; savor it, but do not dwell in it.  It happened. You can’t change it. You can only try to make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

Now, far be it from me to tell you how you should live your life.  That’s for you to decide.  All I’m saying is this: Make good decisions in your life, and it’ll come back to you tenfold.  Believe in yourself, believe in your beliefs, and you will be happy in life.

The Sun shines brightly over His creation…

Silver Lining
And the sun shines brightly over His creation…

There is always a silver lining.  We may not always see it, but it’s there.

He is All Around Us

All Around Us

The title says it all.  He is, indeed, all around us.  Whatever you’re going through, wherever you are, He will be there.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”  –Joshua 1:9
